The Snacks I Actually Eat as a Student Athlete

As a student and an athlete, I’m constantly balancing school days, long practices, and trying to eat a way that supports my energy. I need quick snacks on the go that make me feel light and energized. These are snacks I buy at the grocery store because they don’t bug my stomach, they don’t make me crash, and they make me feel ready in practice after a long day of school.

Go ManGo Dried Mango Slices

When I eat it: I keep these in my school bag and snack on them throughout the day. I also take them to practice and have one or two during water breaks.

Why I eat it: Great source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and fiber. No added sugars, just mango. Keeps my energy levels steady in practice when I start feeling tired.

Go Macro Protein Bars

When I eat it: I grab Go Macro bars before I leave for practice or in the morning if my breakfast wasn’t filling enough.

Why I eat it: It’s natural protein, they give me steady energy, but they aren’t too filling. They also taste super good and can satisfy a sweet tooth. 

Simple Mills Soft Bake Almond Flour Bars

When I eat it: If I just something to stabilize my hunger and keep my energy steady, these are the way to go. All flavors of these bars are so yummy.

Why I eat it: Clean, natural ingredients and super easy to grab on the go or just for a snack chilling around the house.

When I eat it: So great for before practice. Gives me energy but doesn’t make me feel heavy.

Why I eat it: Cheap, super easy, and you can grab on the way out. They’re also hydrating and give steady energy due to the carbs and fiber.

Solely Fruit Snacks

When I eat it: Mid practice, or when I need a little kick of energy.

Why I eat it: One ingredient, vitamins, and quick energy that keeps me going during practice.

Purely Elizabeth Granola

When I eat it: I normally eat this in the morning with yogurt, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, almond butter, and fruit. 

Why I eat it: All natural, tastes really good (it’s addicting), and gives me the amount of carbs and calories I need for a intense day.

When I eat it: Afternoons and before practice.

Why I eat it: They’re refreshing, light, and easy.

I’ve been enjoying these snacks over the past few months and they have helped me get through long days. Between classes and practice, I keep coming back to these snacks because they keep my energy steady and make me feel light.
